Patriotic Tablescape

This weekend, invite friends and family over for an effortless summer celebration that’s low-key yet high on style. My favorite part about summer is that life just slows down and gets more laid-back. And so does the entertaining. The key to a fun, casual party is in the no-fuss details. Simple décor, food and drinks are all you need to put together a fabulous event.

Star-spangled linens are what really make this patriotic tablescape. It’s a fun accent and adds a spark of patriotism to your event. Red, white and blue linens are a must and this time of year there are so many options at various price points. Remember, you can use them year after year and really all summer long, so it’s a good idea to invest in something high quality.

Flowers can be expensive, so when it comes to casual events such as a backyard barbeque I definitely recommend keeping it simple. As much as I love gorgeous bouquets of freshly cut flowers, sometimes a barbeque is not the best place for them since they can be fragile. My go-to centerpiece is using inexpensive potted plants down the center of the table. They’ll hold up for hours in the hot sun, and will stay gorgeous long after your event. This centerpiece arrangement was under twenty dollars, and incredibly beautiful for the occasion.

When I’m hosting a small dinner party get together I always like to set out creative name cards. Simple hole-punched cards tied onto American flags are an easy way for guests to find their seat. Make your own cards or buy tags from the craft store.

Use these simple decorating ideas to create a setting that doesn’t look simple at all. From star-spangled linens to personalized place cards, set your table with American style.
