Take the party outside this summer with crisp white linens, simple decorations, and natural details. Whether you’re hosting a backyard cookout or a luncheon for the ladies, up the style with these party essentials, exclusively from Balsam Hill. Summer entertaining should be effortless, fun and delicious. Some of my favorite summer memories involve simple family gatherings on the patio.
Fresh, light and airy are the first words that come to mind when I describe my summer entertaining style. You can never go wrong with crisp linens, they add a touch of femininity to your table and make it more of a special event.
I’ve shared these Liberty-Double Walled Stemless Tumblers on the blog before, but they are always one of my go-to’s when it comes to glassware. They won’t break like fragile glass and they also don’t show finger prints, which is one of my biggest pet peeves.
Believe it or not, the greenery I used for this table is artificial, which means you can use it time and time again. The Montauk Succulent Hurricane Centerpiece has succulents and eucalyptus fronds mingled with assorted leaf accents, and all set against a natural vine back. These hurricanes provide you with a variety of green tones and textural elements that come together to capture the eye.
When it comes to dining al fresco, outdoor LED café lights give you long lasting illumination along with old-world charm. I’ll set up a couple strands on my patio and above my buffet table. Outdoor Copper Oil Lanterns also give a unique touch to an outdoor gathering and add an enchanting element. These copper oil lamps are perfect whether lining up garden pathways or placed on tables for mood lighting, this lamp is a beautiful accent for outdoor entertaining.
This time of year you never know who is going to pop in for a visit. A good host is always prepared and that means having staples like drinks and snacks on hand all the time. Cheese, nuts, meats and olives are great staples to always have on had to knosh on. A few bottles of wine and having the supplies to make a signature cocktail is never a bad idea either.
Like I said earlier, sometimes you have months to plan the perfect backyard dinner party and sometimes they get sprung on you at the very last minute. Give yourself permission to cheat a little – store bought apps and simple recipes are never a bad thing. Cook what you know and always keep your menu as simple as possible. Don’t stress and remember the company is more important than the food. No one wants to see a stressed out hostess. Remember to laugh a lot and have a good time… parties are supposed to be fun!
